Fog Talk

It’s going to be foggy. Why?

For one, the temperature, and dew point have met. When that happens the relativity humidity is at 100%, and the air can hold no more more moisture (graphic 1). It has to go somewhere. Tonight it’s going to form clouds at the surface. Why? Because there is a temp inversion. A temperature inversion means that there is a warmer layer of air of above surface layer of air. It’s keeping all this moisture close to the ground (graphic 2). Then you need something to form the fog…a light wind (graphic 3). When you have all these…fog forms.
